Ms. Henson is new to our school this year, and she teaches AVID, a class that focuses on organizational skills and college readiness. She moved here recently from Orlando, Florida. We are so happy to welcome her to the Brown Middle School family; if you have a chance, stop and say hello to her!
Destiny: What are you proudest of?
Ms. Henson: Being an educator.
Destiny: Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself in your first year of teaching?
Ms. Henson: Building positive relationships with the students is the most important thing.
Destiny: Do you have any favorite stories from your work life?
Ms. Henson: I have worked as a tour guide in a cavern, at a tropical fish farm, and I was a concierge at a large hotel.
Destiny: How would you like to be remembered?
Ms. Henson: As someone who likes to laugh.
Destiny: Why did you choose to move to Tennessee?
Ms. Henson: I wanted to live near the mountains.
Destiny: If you could meet any person or group, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
Ms. Henson: George Washington because he made big mistakes in his life, but he seems like a genuinely good person. Queen Elizabeth the First because she was punk rock before punk rock existed. And Maya Angelou because I think she would be an amazing friend.
Destiny: If you had three wishes what would they be?
Ms. Henson: 1. To not age 2. To not have to worry about money 3. No more war - can’t we all just get along?
Destiny: What is your favorite hobby?
Ms. Henson: Swimming and playing piano.
Destiny: Do you have any pets?
Ms Henson: I have a cat named Atty

Destiny: How long have you been a teacher?
Ms Henson: 16 years.
Destiny: Do you have any children?
Ms Henson: No.
Destiny: What’s your favorite candy?
Ms Henson: Heath Bar.
Destiny: What’s your favorite TV show?
Ms Henson: OA on Netflix.
Destiny: If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
Ms. Henson: I would speak all languages, so I could have conversations with all kinds of people all over the world.
