Summer Reading 2024
Brown Middle School Families,
This summer, all students planning to attend BMS will be required to invest time in independent reading. Studies show that students who read independently increase their vocabulary, their reading comprehension, and their overall academic performance. Independent reading also gives students opportunities to have adventures and get to know new people. Reading helps you grow as a person. We want you to have a fun summer that includes reading every day!
Summer Reading Expectations:
★ Read our "One School, One Book" summer reading selection Somthing Like Home by Andrea Beatriz Arango. Come prepared to discuss in August!
★ Read a second book of your choice! Check out the Chattanooga Public Library Staff Picks for ideas (look for the grades 6-8 list). If you prefer ebooks or audiobooks, don't miss the Sora Summer Reading list for Middle School, always available on the Sora app through Class Link.
★ Log all of your summer reading on Beanstack (instructions below) for prizes in August!
